No. 5 Wise at No. 15 Suitland: Unbeaten and Unyielding

Prince George’s County’s last two undefeated teams square off as Wise’s high-powered offense faces a Suitland defense that has allowed just 20 points all season.

The last two undefeated teams in Prince George’s County collide in Week 8 as Suitland hosts Wise in a top-15 showdown. Wise enters the matchup at 6-0, and in three seasons, head coach Steve Rapp has compiled a perfect 25-0 record against Prince George’s County opponents. The matchup to watch is whether Suitland’s outstanding defense, which has surrendered just 20 points all season, can slow down a Wise offense averaging an incredible 49.5 points per game.

Suitland head coach Keith Lynch pairs that dominant defense with a dynamic rushing attack. The Rams feature three ball carriers who are each averaging more than 10 yards per carry. Senior RB Elijah Miller has rushed 39 times for 448 yards and eight touchdowns, while senior RB Anthony Coad has 42 carries for 444 yards and six scores. Junior QB Anthony Boyd adds another dimension to the ground game, rushing for 228 yards and five touchdowns on just 20 carries. Through the air, junior WR Javon Arrington has emerged as Boyd’s favorite target, hauling in 12 receptions for 320 yards and seven touchdowns.

Wise has set the standard in Prince George’s County in recent years and has dominated this series, winning all nine meetings against Suitland over the past 13 years. Offensively, Rapp spreads the ball among his many playmakers, but junior RB Les Williams handles the bulk of the rushing workload, averaging 89.3 yards per game with six touchdowns.

Semaje Bangura is one of the most versatile athletes in the county, and his production speaks for itself: two touchdown receptions, three rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, and an 81-yard kickoff return for a score. Defensively, the Pumas will look to senior William Polk, who leads the team in both tackles and sacks, to set the tone.
