No. 8 Eastern, No. 13 C.H. Flowers Set for Top-20 Rematch
The Ramblers hosting the Jaguars is one of two MSP top twenty games on this weekend's schedule. These teams met this same weekend last year and the C.H. Flowers Jaguars came out on top 23-7. Unfortunately, the game was forfeited for the use of an ineligible player and cost the Jaguars the win. This season's matchup features two of the most explosive offensive players in the metro area--RB Kodi Gardner from Flowers and Eastern's ATH Brandon Austin. Eastern is staring at one of the toughest local schedules of any of the area's programs and CH Flowers is eager to put last year's drama behind them.
The Eastern football program has been Rambling on under head coach Roman Morris. Coach Rome won eleven games, a DC state title and multiple Coach of the Year awards. Sophomore QB Nigel Hubbard carries on the family tradition leading the offense after the graduation of his brother Jeremiah. One of his main targets will be another sibling, senior wide receiver Zion. Brandon Austin was the focus of the offense for the Ramblers in week one with 213 total yards.
Frederick Groves was a Jaguars assistant, the interim head coach, and now, he is the official leader of one of the premier programs in Prince George’s County. Head Coach Groves has plenty to be excited about as eight starters return on offense and nine on the defensive side. Kodi Gardner is the engine offensively and he has multiple power four offers. Keep an eye on senior MLB/RB Gabriel Amado and the collisions between the tackles he causes on both sides of the ball.
