Commanders Injured Reserve Filling Up Already As Key Players Won't Start the Season
Key players designated to return...need to return
The Washington Commanders placed running back Jeremy McNichols and cornerback Trey Amos on the injured reserve with a designation to return on Sunday. Deatrich Wise, Jr. joined them in their ineligibility to play this September as he was placed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list. These three players will miss at least the first four games of the season.
In addtion to this, the Commanders plan to add both left tackle Laremy Tunsil (torn triceps) and defensive lineman Johnny Newton to the injured reserve. We do not yet know if either of these players recovering from surgery will be able to play this season, and by waiting until after the final 53 is set, they can spare themselves a couple return designations.
The Tunsil injury this summer was an absolute shot to the groin of our plans this fall. The combination of these other players not being able to go for the team adds up to...at the very least some bad vibes in the fanbase. We are going to be testing the depth of Adam Peters' player haul early.
