No. 2 Gonzaga Visits No. 10 Coolidge in Historic Top 10 Clash

The Eagles and defending DCSAA champion Colts meet Thursday night in D.C., with both teams entering 1-0 and looking to make an early statement.

In the first top ten clash in Metro Sports Page history the #2 Gonzaga Eagles will travel to the #10 Coolidge Colts on Thursday night at 7:00. The game was originally scheduled to be the home opener for the Eagles but yesterday was changed to Coolidge and moved up a day. Both these teams come home to DC with a 1-0 record after impressive victories on the road. The Coolidge Colts are the defending DCSAA champions and are looking to take down last year’s WCAC runner up.

Coolidge Head Coach Kevin Nesbitt returns a veteran team with fifteen returning starters. The Colts defense returns nine starters and is anchored by two massive forces on the edge. Senior Mehki Wilson (6’6’’ 230) and Junior Malachi Hooks (6’5’’ 240) will be holding down the perimeter. Senior middle linebacker Kesean Mason anchors the front seven and senior strong safety John Lafontant led the DCSAA division AA in tackles last year with 114.

Gonzaga is coming off a thrilling comeback over Calvert Hall as their defense gave up zero second half points. The Eagles have tremendous front seven talent as well, with four star sophomore DJ Dockery, who has amassed over twenty power four offers, and Northwestern commit defensive tackle Tyler Frederick. The Eagles will be led on offense by the senior trio of QB Jaden Lindsay, RB Asheton Burton and Villanova commit senior WR Lincoln Shelton.
